What is Blood Water and Its Effects in Terraria?
Blood Water Overview
Blood Water is functionally identical to Unholy Water; however, it spreads The Crimson instead of The Corruption. It can “crimson” up to a total of 57 blocks on impact. The affected region extends 9 blocks outwards from the point of impact.
Damage Effects
Blood Water deals 20 damage to enemies, making it a strategic tool in combat. Notably, the damage caused by Blood Water is not influenced by any damage-increasing factors, including all-encoming ones such as the Wrath Potion or Destroyer Emblem.
Acquisition
The Blood Water Fountain can be obtained from the Witch Doctor. To use it, simply place the fountain and then turn it on by right-clicking on it.
How to Create and Use Blood Water in Your Adventure?
Creating Blood Water in Terraria:
- Blood Water can be created by combining:
- 10 Bottled Water
- 10 Crimsand Blocks
- 1 Crimson Seed
- This mixture results in 10 Blood Water, which is a consumable item.
- When thrown, Blood Water converts a small area into the Crimson biome.
Using Blood Water:
- Blood Water is part of a set known as Thrown Water.
- In total, there are three types of Thrown Water that convert areas into different biomes:
- Holy Water – Converts to Hallow
- Unholy Water – Converts to Corruption
- Blood Water – Converts to Crimson
- The conversion affects a roughly circular area with a radius of four tiles from the center.
- Enemies within this radius are also damaged slightly.
Additional Information:
- The effects of Thrown Water can be reversed using Thrown Powder.
- If you wish to create large areas of Hallow, Corruption, or Crimson, consider using a Clentaminator.
- The Clentaminator fires a stream of solution with a range of about 60 tiles.
Crafting Analogy:
You could craft Blood Water similarly to crafting a water bottle. Instead of producing a standard water bottle, you would create the evil water.
What Are the Differences Between Holy, Unholy, and Blood Water?
Differences Between Holy, Unholy, and Blood Water in Terraria
- Unholy Water: Unholy Water is a consumable weapon that, when thrown, corrupts a small area of blocks. It turns regular stone into Ebonstone Blocks and regular sand into Ebonsand Blocks. Additionally, it spreads corruption more quickly and efficiently than Corrupt Seeds. Furthermore, it can be used to remove The Hallow.
- Blood Water: Blood Water is specifically associated with the Blood Moon event, during which the water turns red. This visual change distinguishes it from other water types in the game, which possess colors based on their respective biomes. Functionally, Blood Water is identical to Unholy Water; however, it spreads The Crimson instead of The Corruption. It can convert a total of 57 blocks upon impact, extending 9 blocks outwards from the point of impact. Notably, the damage caused is not influenced by any damage-increasing factors.
- Color Changes in Water: The color of water can change depending on the biome or event occurring in the game. For instance:
- Blue in the Forest and Ocean
- Dark Blue in the Underground layer and Glowing Mushroom biome
- Yellow in the surface Desert/Underground Desert
- Teal in the Jungle
- Light Blue in the Snow biome
- Purple in the Corruption
- Pinkish in the Crimson
- Magenta in the Hallow
- Red during a Blood Moon
- Murky Purple in the Cavern layer
- Turquoise in the surface Desert, such as in an Oasis
Thrown Water Mechanics:
Thrown Water refers to a set of three consumable weapons. Each type converts a small area into a biome: Holy Water for The Hallow, Unholy Water for The Corruption, and Blood Water for The Crimson.
The conversion affects a roughly circular area with a radius of four tiles from the point of impact, damaging any enemies within this radius slightly.
