Conquering Tatarasuna in Genshin Impact: Your No-Nonsense Guide to Unlocking and Exploring the Fortress of Thunder

You want to enter Tatarasuna in Genshin Impact? Good choice. This place holds loot, lore, and electro energy in abundance. Yet, entering Tatarasuna is not easy. Picture trying to sneak into a heavily guarded fortress. It’s tricky. We’ve all stood before that electric barrier, unsure if we veered into danger. Relax, adventurer! This guide will help you navigate Tatarasuna and its secrets.

Unlocking Tatarasuna and Bying That Pesky Barrier

First, that huge shield around Tatarasuna is not for decoration. It’s meant to keep out those who lack the right access. The key to breaking down this barrier? The “Tatara Tales” world quest. Think of it as your to enter the island’s depths. Let’s get started.

Initiating the Tatara Tales World Quest: Your Gateway to Tatarasuna

To start this quest, find Toranosuke and Miyuki. They hang out at Kujou Encampment. If you’re unsure where that is, it’s on Kannazuka, the second island you hit in Inazuma. It’s easy to locate unless you’re lost like a hilichurl. Just follow the lightning.

Specifically, the Kujou Encampment is west of the Waypoint Teleporter nearby. Toranosuke and Miyuki are close to the waypoint. They often chat about the Traveler. Talk to Toranosuke to begin your journey. Accept the “Tatara Tales” quest, and you’re on your way to opening Tatarasuna.

Kujou Encampment: Your Starting Point on Kannazuka Island

For clarity: Kujou Encampment sits on Kannazuka. This island looks like it has faced many storms (it has). It’s the second island you explore in Inazuma after Ritou. Once on Kannazuka, head to the Kujou Encampment. It’s a large camp, so finding it is easy. Look for tents, samurai, and some Kairagi causing a ruckus. Go west of the waypoint teleporter and you’ll spot Toranosuke and Miyuki.

The Tatara Tales Questline: A Seven-Day Saga

Don’t get your hopes up thinking it’s a quick chat that will clear the barrier. “Tatara Tales” is a questline spanning several real-world days. Count seven daily world quests. Yes, seven. Each day unlocks a new part of the quest leading you closer to a barrier-free Tatarasuna. These quests involve helping with the Mikage Furnace and dealing with various electro tasks. Stick with it. The rewards matter, and so does access to Tatarasuna.

Destroying the Barrier: The Final Act

After completing all seven parts of “Tatara Tales” (kudos for your dedication!), it’s time to destroy the barrier. There is a specific shield to target, naturally. You’ll need to follow unique instructions: “three times to the left and twice to the top.” Sounds like a dance move or a chest code, right? In this case, it’s how you break the shield. Interact with objects near the barrier according to this “left three, top two” method. It might be vague, but that’s Genshin puzzles for you – a mix of confusion before the moment of revelation.

Entering Tatarasuna: Quest Acceptance is Key

Let’s clarify: you can’t just stroll into Tatarasuna. Trying to force your way in is fruitless. The only way to enter Tatarasuna is by progressing through the “Tatara Tales” world quest. If you’re struggling to get in, ensure you’ve started the questline. Check back at Kujou Encampment, talk to Toranosuke, and confirm that “Tatara Tales” is active. Think of it as the bouncer at Tatarasuna – no quest means no entry.

Domains and Hidden Gems Within Tatarasuna’s Walls

Successfully completing the “Tatara Tales” saga grants you access to Tatarasuna, which is full of domains and unique locations worthy of exploration. Let’s highlight some areas you’ll want to check.

Tatarasuna Domain: Unlocked by Tales

One of the first domains you’ll want to access in Tatarasuna is, coincidentally, the Tatarasuna Domain. This domain is similarly gated behind the “Tatara Tales” questline. Finish those seven daily tasks, and the Tatarasuna Domain unlocks for battle and rewards. It’s a well-deserved victory after dealing with that pesky barrier.

Formation Estate Domain: Weathering the Storm on Yashiori Island

Next, let’s briefly explore Formation Estate. Although located on Yashiori Island, unlocking it often aligns with Tatarasuna exploration due to Inazuma’s progression. Formation Estate constantly rains when first encountered. Lighting torches in the rain can be tricky. To clear the rain and unlock this domain, tackle another quest: “Orobashi’s Legacy.”

Orobashi’s Legacy: Putting a Stop to Yashiori Island’s Endless Rain

“Orobashi’s Legacy” addresses Yashiori Island’s rain issue. To start, find Kaji near Fort Fujitou on Yashiori Island. It’s hard to miss – it’s literally a fort. Kaji has tasks for you that lead to stopping the rain. Engage in puzzle-solving while exploring Yashiori Island. Finish “Orobashi’s Legacy,” and the sun (or at least dry weather) finally arrives at Formation Estate.

Lighting the Torches: Illuminating the Path to Formation Estate

Once the rain clears, proceed to Formation Estate. Unlock it by lighting torches. Surprise! Look near the domain entrance’s machine cube to find unlit torches. Use a Pyro character to set them ablaze. Voilà! Formation Estate domain is now accessible. Who knew manipulating weather and lighting torches would be keys to unlocking domains?

Shakkei Pavilion: Cannon Fire Domain Unlocking

If you want a domain unlock with more excitement, check out Shakkei Pavilion. This one involves cannons, specifically Kamuijima Cannons scattered across Inazuma. To unlock Shakkei Pavilion, return to the southernmost cannon location near this domain. Aim the cannon at the rock formation on your left where Shakkei Pavilion rests. Fire away! A well-placed cannon shot will reveal the entrance. Just avoid blowing up any nearby chests during the process; collateral damage is not stylish.

Empty Boat of a Thousand Gates: Memento Lens and Underground Labyrinths

The Empty Boat of a Thousand Gates domain requires a more cryptic unlocking method. This single-domain area in Araumi needs a special tool: the Memento Lens. If you haven’t found this item yet, you’ll need progress through Inazuma’s main story, particularly with the Sacred Sakura Cleansing quest.

Ritual questline. The Memento Lens lets you view the past, showing hidden paths and mechanisms.

Accessing Araumi’s Underground Labyrinth: Through the Lens of the Past

With the Memento Lens in your inventory, go to Araumi. Use it on Kitsune statues in the area. This reveals entrances to the underground labyrinth. Explore it and find your way to the Empty Boat of a Thousand Gates domain. Unlocking domains isn’t always simple.

The Arsenal: Keys to… Somewhere!

Next is “The Arsenal,” a dramatic location in Tatarasuna. To access it, you must find “Keys to Some Place.” These quest items come from exploration or tasks in Tatarasuna. Watch for these keys in the area. They are scattered around, so thorough exploration is essential. Gather around three keys to unlock The Arsenal and discover treasures inside.

Coordinates of Sun and Rain: A Hint of Dendro and Varuna Gatha

Lastly, “Coordinates of Sun and Rain” links to the Varuna Gatha world quest chain, part of Sumeru content using Dendrograna. It isn’t in Tatarasuna or needed to access it initially. However, completionists may find it interesting. Genshin often leads to tangents, after all.

Solving Puzzles: Brain Teasers in Tatarasuna

Tatarasuna involves combat and exploration but also holds puzzles. What’s a good adventure without some challenges? Here are puzzle types you’ll face.

Tatarasuna Relay Stone Puzzles: Electroconductivity 101

Relay Stone puzzles are classic brain teasers. Tatarasuna has many of them. Use Relay Stones and Conductive Stones to form an electrical circuit. Usually, this unlocks a chest or activates a mechanism. You must position these stones strategically to gaps and finish the circuit. Think of it as Genshin’s take on electrical engineering.

Electric Conduction Puzzles: Stepping on… Bombs?

For a more explosive puzzle, try Electric Conduction puzzles. These often involve stepping on Electro plant bombs scattered around. Yes, step on the bombs. The aim is to activate all of them in a sequence or within a time limit. It’s like a high-stakes hopscotch game, with electrocution penalties for failure.

Draining the Pool of Electro Water: Tile-Based Trickery

Ever want to drain electrifying water? Tatarasuna provides this through its pool-draining puzzles. You activate a set of three-by-three tiles in the correct order. Step on the right tiles to lower the water level. Wrong ones mean starting over. It’s about pattern recognition and trial and error. Avoid falling into electro-water.

Mitigating Environmental Hazards: Surviving Tatarasuna’s Wrath

Tatarasuna isn’t just guarded by barriers; it has many environmental hazards. Expect thunderstorms, Balethunder, and excess electro-energy.

Stopping the Rain (Again): Tatara Tales to the Rescue

Like Formation Estate, Tatarasuna often faces thunderstorms. And once again, “Tatara Tales” is the solution. Completing the seven daily quests stops the storm and breaks the barrier over Tatarasuna. Two tasks, one questline. Quite efficient.

Negating Balethunder: Electrograna to the Rescue

Balethunder deals consistent electro-damage in some areas, including Tatarasuna. The solution? Electrograna. Summon it from Thunder Sakura Boughs for temporary immunity. Consider it your anti-electro force field. Refresh it or you’ll start taking damage again.

Getting Rid of Excessive Electro: Xavier’s Purification Project

In hyper-electrified zones, drastic measures are necessary. This usually involves a quest from Xavier near the Mikage Furnace. He needs help finding components and setting up a Purification Device. It’s a multi-step task that reduces excessive electro energy in the area, aiding exploration and puzzle-solving. Speak with Xavier at the Mikage Furnace to start this project.

Chests Galore: Tatarasuna’s Hidden Booty

Exploration wouldn’t be complete without treasure. Tatarasuna is filled with chests of various qualities waiting to be found. Here are key chest locations.

The Chest on Top of Tatarasuna: A Leap of Faith Required

A luxurious chest waits atop Tatarasuna, but it’s sealed. To open it, fall off a cliff. Position yourself at its back near the cliff edge. Walk towards the edge until you fall. This action breaks the seal on the chest. Just ensure you can survive the drop or glide down for a safer descent.

Luxurious Chest Near the Teleport Waypoint: Easy Peasy

Near the Tatarasuna Teleport Waypoint is another Luxurious Chest. For this one, cliff-diving isn’t necessary. Just search around the waypoint, and you should find it. Easy loot is always a welcome sight.

Common Chests in Takashi’s House: Conch Exchange Program

Then there’s Takashi, who offers Common Chests in his home. He’s a character allowing you to open one of three Common Chests daily. However, you need to provide him with 3 Mysterious Conch each time. You find Mysterious Conch on Inazuma’s beaches. This exchange refreshes daily.

Quests and Items: The ing Cast

Let’s recap key quests and items essential for your Tatarasuna journey.

  • Tatara Tales: Essential quests for unlocking Tatarasuna and ceasing the storm.
  • Orobashi’s Legacy: The Yashiori Island quest for stopping rain and unlocking Formation Estate.
  • Keys to Some Place: Items needed for accessing The Arsenal in Tatarasuna.
  • Memento Lens: Reveals hidden paths and unlocks the Empty Boat of a Thousand Gates.
  • Electrograna: Your shield from Balethunder, summoned from Thunder Sakura Boughs.

Characters of Tatarasuna: Meet the Locals

Tatarasuna and its quests introduce key characters.

  • Toranosuke and Miyuki: Quest starters at Kujou Encampment for “Tatara Tales.”
  • Takashi: Conch fan who offers daily Common Chests in Tatarasuna.
  • Xavier: Researcher at Mikage Furnace seeking help with electro purification.
  • Kaji: NPC near Fort Fujitou who initiates “Orobashi’s Legacy.”

Inazuma Access: Before You Even Reach Tatarasuna

Before reaching Tatarasuna, you must access Inazuma first. Here are key prerequisites.

  • Complete Archon Quests: Progress through main story quests to reach Inazuma.
  • Adventure Rank 30 Required: Inazuma is mid-to-late game; ensure your rank is at least 30.
  • Co-op as a… Shortcut?: You can enter Inazuma early by ing another player’s world if they are there.

You now have a thorough guide to unlocking Tatarasuna in Genshin Impact. Go on, brave adventurer! Conquer that thunder fortress and loot every chest. Watch out for electrocution. Consider bringing a friend for those relay stone puzzles. Happy exploring!
