Understanding Inazuma’s Location in Genshin Impact
Inazuma Overview
Inazuma is one of the seven regions of Teyvat, an archipelagic region that worships Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon and God of Eternity — who is also the leader of its governing body, the Inazuma Shogunate. It is based on Japan’s culture and is known for its beautiful landscapes.
Location
- Inazuma is located approximately 4 km southeast from Liyue Harbor and closely neighbors the Dark Sea.
- It is separated from the central region you start in and is directly southwest of the main island on its own set of islands.
Accessing Inazuma
To get to Inazuma, you need to reach Adventure Rank 30 or above and complete Chapter 2: Prologue to unlock the next storyline quest. The Chapter 2: Act 1 Archon Quest will take you to the new Inazuma Region!
Islands in Inazuma
There are a total of 6 different islands in Inazuma for players to explore:
- Narukami Island
- Kannazuka
- Yashiori Island
- Seirai Island
- Tsurumi Island
- Watatsumi Island
Notably, Tsurumi Island is shrouded in fog and mist when players first arrive, requiring the use of Specific Paths and Stormstones to navigate.
Gameplay Features
Players can find treasure chests, solve puzzles, and engage in environmental challenges throughout these islands. A significant element in Inazuma is the Sacred Sakura Tree located on top of the Grand Narukami Shrine, which players can increase in Favor Level for rewards. Additionally, there is Balethunder — a status effect in some regions of Inazuma, where players can avoid damage using Electrograna.
Electrograna
Electrograna are spirits used to solve Inazuma puzzles and through barriers. Upon summoning an Electrogranum, they only accompany you for a set period of time. Players will encounter Thunder Barriers, which are Electro domes that can only be ed through with Electrograna stronger than the Barrier’s level.
Name Origins
Inazuma’s name is derived from Japanese, where “Inazuma” translates to “Lightning.” The term “bakufu” in English means ‘The ruling govern,’ highlighting the cultural references present in this region.
Navigating to Inazuma: Quest Requirements and Tips
To unlock Inazuma, you must fulfill several requirements:
- Complete the first part of Archon Quest Chapter II: Act I – The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia.
- Be at least Adventurer Rank 30.
- Start Chapter 1 of The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia Inazuma Archon Quest.
- Finish all Mondstadt quests, including necessary side quests, Liyue quests, and the Dainsleif storyline.
Once you’ve met these prerequisites, you can begin the quest to unlock Inazuma.
The first part of this quest, titled Setting Sail, is available from Katheryn at the Adventurer’s Guild in Liyue.
Following this quest, you will arrive in Ritou, a small port town just around Inazuma.
It’s essential to remain cautious; while Inazuma is a beautiful region filled with new mobs and a captivating soundtrack, it also harbors dangers.
- Beware of a never-ending thunderstorm on one of the islands.
- Wandering samurais or ronins pose significant threats and can easily overwhelm an unprepared or unsuspecting team.
Lastly, please note that Inazuma is only reachable through the quest. There are no alternative methods of entry; even running there with Furina will result in being teleported back.

Geographically, Inazuma is located approximately 4 km southeast from Liyue Harbor and closely neighbors the Dark Sea. This region, known as the region of eternity, is surrounded by water and has strict border controls.

Finally, to unlock the region of Inazuma, players must complete the Archon Quest titled Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves.
Release History: When Did Inazuma Launch in Genshin Impact?
First off, the basics: the release date for Genshin Impact 2.0 and the Inazuma Region is July 21, 2021.
Inazuma itself is based off of Japan, known to denizens of Teyvat as the Nation of Eternity. It’s under the rule of Electro Archon Baal, who seems a whole lot more active than the mostly undercover and easygoing Barbatos and Rex Lapis of Mondstadt and Liyue, respectively.
The Genshin Impact 2.0 update is considered one of the biggest updates, with a new region – Inazuma, three new Inazuma characters – Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu, new weapons, maps, and more.
- The first playable character introduced from the Inazuma region is Kamisato Ayaka, a five-star Cryo character who uses a Sword weapon. Ayaka will be featured as the first five-star Wish banner character, released on July 21.
Regarding the release time, it depends on your location. According to the official website, miHoYo states that maintenance will start at 06:00 for those in time zone UTC +8 (Beijing time).
Additionally, the update will be available to play on July 21st. As always, players will be able to pre-install the update a few days prior.
After countless hours in Mondstadt and Liyue, it’s time to explore the brand-new Inazuma region. This is the first permanent region to be added since Mondstadt’s Dragonspine.
Traveling Early: Getting to Inazuma Without Quest Restrictions
To get to Inazuma in Genshin Impact, you must first reach Adventure Rank 30. This milestone unlocks the ‘Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves’ quest under the Archon Quests. You can check your Adventure Rank by tapping on the Paimon icon in the main menu.
Next, complete the storyline quests of Mondstadt and Liyue. Afterward, visit Katheryne at the Adventurer’s Guild in Liyue. She will then provide you with the Chapter II, Act I Quest ‘Setting Sail’. Accepting this quest allows you to embark on your journey to Inazuma.
Furthermore, you will need to meet with a Crux crew member and visit the Crux Fleet near Guyun Stone Forest. Speak to Beidou to make preparations for your departure. After a short cutscene, you will be transported to the Ritou’s docks, marking your arrival in the Inazuma region. It is recommended to follow the storyline in Ritou until you obtain a Travel Permit, which grants free age throughout the region.
It’s important to note that Inazuma is the only region in Genshin Impact blocked by Archon Quest restrictions. Therefore, you cannot access it by travelling through Teyvat as you can with Sumeru and Fontaine. Any attempts to reach Inazuma earlier, such as building an ice bridge or using Waveriders, are prevented by both the stormy seas around the region and the game mechanics.
Overall, accomplish all available quests listed in the ‘Quests’ section of the main menu. Engage in all four daily commissions available at AR 16 and collect rewards from Katheryne. Additionally, tasks in your Adventure’s handbook provide various challenges and objectives necessary for your progress.
