Where to Find Madame Ping in Genshin Impact: A Guide

Madame Ping Location in Genshin Impact

Madame Ping, also known by her adeptus title Streetward Rambler, is an open-world NPC located at Yujing Terrace in Liyue Harbor during the daytime. She can often be seen iring the Glaze Lilies.

Currently, she resides around Yuehai Pavilion, living inside her magical teapot. Upon arriving at Liyue Harbor, players can observe Madame Ping tending to the Glaze Lilies, dressed in a long dark-green dress complemented by a brown shawl, a maroon-colored waistband, and collar, with her grey hair styled in a low, tucked bun.

Historically, after the Archon War, Madame Ping moved to Liyue Harbor with other survivors, adopting her elderly persona. Notably, most adepti sought shelter in Jueyun Karst, but Madame Ping and Ganyu chose to remain in Liyue Harbor.

To reach her, head towards the east side of Liyue Harbor. Look for a tranquil teahouse amidst the city’s vibrant life—Madame Ping awaits there.

Additionally, during The Exquisite Night Chimes event, the Traveler encounters a wandering musician, Dvorak, who is looking for the fairy lady as part of the Iridescence Tour music festival.

What is Madame Ping’s True Identity?

Madame Ping’s true identity is that of an adeptus who once resided in the Guili Assembly. This civilization was established by the gods Guizhong, Marchosius, and Morax.

Years ago, in her true appearance, Madame Ping described herself as a ‘vain beauty.’ However, this claim was refuted by Cloud Retainer, suggesting it was merely a pretext.

Currently, Madame Ping takes the form of an elderly lady. Her gray hair is tucked in a low bun. This appearance is intentional, as it allows her to avoid attracting the attention of hungry irers.

The Mystery Behind Madame Ping’s Age: Why is She Old?

The age mystery of Madame Ping can be explained through several intriguing facts:

  • Madame Ping, as an Adeptus, has chosen her appearance to help her settle down. It is believed that Adeptus do not age, allowing her the possibility to change her form in the future.
  • Over 3,700 years ago, she was an adeptus dwelling in the Guili Assembly, a civilization founded by the gods Guizhong, Marchosius, and Morax.
  • The reason behind her current elderly appearance is to avoid unwanted attention. As she humorously put it, this choice helps her steer clear of “thirsty people.”
  • She maintains a bell, claiming it isn’t hers, but reminisces about begging her old buddy for it when she was a ‘vain young beauty.’ Interestingly, Yelan carries a bell that looks similar to the Cleansing Bell featured in the Moonchase Festival trailer.
  • Now, Madame Ping, also known as the Streetward Rambler, lives as an elderly woman. In her current form, very few people know that she is an Adeptus.

In summary, Madame Ping’s age and mysterious appearance are deeply intertwined with her identity as an Adeptus, her historical background, and her desire for a tranquil existence.

Is Madame Ping an Adeptus? Exploring Her Powers

Madame Ping is indeed an adeptus. She is said to have received blessings from Morax, the Prime of Adepti, which granted her illumination. This indicates that she is part of the group known as adepti, who are beings beyond normal mortals and often worshipped like deities by the people of Liyue.

Additionally, while she appears as an old lady, her form is a choice, indicating her ability to shapeshift. This is a trait of full-blooded adepti.

Primarily, Madame Ping is associated with powers related to flora and gardening. She potentially manipulates plants and flowers to attack or defend, drawing from her deep knowledge of plant life and the natural world while often seen tending her garden at Yujing Terrace in Liyue. Key points about her Adeptus powers include:

  • Plant Manipulation: Her most prominent power could involve summoning or controlling various plants and flowers to attack enemies, potentially with different elemental properties depending on the flower type.
  • Healing and Restoration: Due to her connection with nature, she might have abilities to heal or restore life, perhaps using restorative flowers or potent herbal remedies.
  • Floral Augmentation: She could potentially enhance her own attacks or defenses by infusing them with floral energy.
  • Environmental Awareness: Her deep connection to the natural world might allow her to sense subtle changes in the environment or detect hidden dangers.

Furthermore, Madame Ping was an adeptus who dwelt in the Guili Assembly, a civilization established by the gods Guizhong, Marchosius, and Morax. Since Rex Lapis endowed all Adepti with “illumination,” they can create Sub-Spaces—autonomous pocket worlds. Many years later, Streetward Rambler lives in the form of an elderly woman, and almost no one living today knows that she is an Adeptus.

Rumors and Speculations: Will Madame Ping Be Playable?

Speculations About Madame Ping’s Playability in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact players have been speculating regarding the playability of Madame Ping. Several leaks had previously suggested that she will become playable in future versions. Now, Iris Leaks has disclosed on their Telegram channel that she may debut in version 5.4 and go by the name of Lanya.

Madame Ping, known as the Streetward Rambler, is an Adeptus from Liyue in the game’s narrative. Iris Leaks has recently suggested that she will soon be released as a playable character in Genshin Impact 5.4. Considering the title will be celebrating the Lantern Rite festival during this period, it would be highly appropriate to introduce an Adeptus from Liyue. Based on the speculated Natlan update schedule, Genshin Impact version 5.4 may arrive on February 12, 2025.

Moreover, Madame Ping may be released on either February 12 or March 4. Similar to Cloud Retainer, who debuted in v4.4, Madame Ping will go by a different name as a playable unit. She will reportedly be called Lanya and is speculated to be a 5-star character. Leaker White__fx1 has also attested to the reliability of these leaks.

Iris Leaks further informed that Lanya will use a Polearm as her weapon of choice, similar to the Geo Archon, Zhongli, and her fellow Adeptus, Xiao. Additionally, the leaker used the term ‘Polearm Girl’ to describe her, which could indicate that she may use the short female character model.

new characters include Madame Ping, rumored to be a playable character in Genshin Impact under the name ‘Lanya’. The speculation suggests she would have the Hydro element and possess a unique combat style utilizing strikes with her teapot.

Despite these rumors, recent leaks indicate conflicting reports stating she won’t appear in Version 5.3, despite the event’s timing. The debate continues regarding Madame Ping’s playability, drawing comparisons to Cloud Retainer, another Adeptus character who transitioned to a playable role. This situation fuels discussions about whether Madame Ping could similarly become a playable character with unique abilities.

Unveiling Madame Ping’s Connection to Guizhong

Guizhong and Madame Ping are both immortals from Liyue. They are NPCs, yet they have never interacted in-game. However, in the event “The Exquisite Night Chimes,” a cutscene reveals that they were close friends. Initially, they were rivals due to their differing views on the meaning of music.

Madame Ping believed that music emanates from the soul and cannot be replicated by machinery. In contrast, Guizhong argued that mechanisms, like the Cleansing Bell she created, could produce simple melodies. Their debates continued until Rex Lapis intervened, ultimately leading them to reconcile. Once they put their differences aside, they embarked on many adventures in the mountains together, discussing music, mechanics, and the affairs of the mortal realm.

After Guizhong’s ing, Madame Ping spent her time alone in the mountains, reminiscing while playing her zither. She dedicated many years to composing a song in memory of Guizhong. Once satisfied with her melody, she played it in the clouds, never to play it again as the only one who could understand it was gone. Madame Ping believes that the Guili Plains signifies everything, likely because it represents Guizhong. She also urged Rex Lapis to give her the Cleansing Bell, using it solely to play Guizhong’s melody.

In the game, Madame Ping is seen during the daytime at Yujing Terrace, where she watches over the Glaze Lilies, Guizhong’s favorite flower. When Paimon and Ganyu request her to play her tune on the zither for the Lantern Rite, Madame Ping declines, as it has been a long time since she played. Doing so brings back memories of her past with Guizhong. She confides in Ganyu that, although she has not completely moved on, her grief has eased over time.

Furthermore, Madame Ping refers to Guizhong as ‘知音’ (zhīyīn) during the Lantern Rite event. This term, often translated as ‘soulmate,’ carries a much deeper meaning, originating from a tale about a musician who destroyed his instrument out of grief for his companion.

Notably, over 3,700 years ago, Madame Ping was an adeptus residing in the Guili Assembly, a civilization founded by the deities Guizhong, Marchosius, and Morax.

The Younger Side of Madame Ping: Is She Immortal?

Madame Ping is the Streetward Rambler in Liyue Adeptus.

In the plot of last year’s Lantern Rite, we saw Xianyun’s human form and the young Madame Ping for the first time. From Xianyun’s words, we heard many stories of the adeptus from over 3,700 years ago, when the Rex Lapis and adeptus established Liyue.

Overwhelmed by grief at the loss of her friend, the Streetward Rambler decided to leave the adepti and integrate with the people. Consequently, she transformed her appearance from a young woman to an elderly lady and adopted the name Madame Ping.

In memory of her deceased friend, Madame Ping grows glaze lilies — ancient flowers that nearly went extinct after Guizhong’s death. In ancient times, it was believed that glaze lilies could read human hearts.

Madame Ping in the World of Genshin Impact: Stories and Lore

Madame Ping is a wise and mysterious character in Genshin Impact. She resides in her teahouse located in the heart of Liyue Harbor. You can find her by heading towards the northwest section of Liyue Harbor.

To reach her, make your way to the upper level and look for a tranquil teahouse amidst the city’s vibrant life. Specifically, she is now living at Yujing Terrace, inside the magical abode she created from her teapot. Most adepti sought shelter in Jueyun Karst, but Madame Ping and Ganyu moved to Liyue Harbor.

Upon speaking to her, you will learn that she left the Cleansing Bell inside her teapot. Touching Madame Ping’s teapot pulls you into a domain, where you must search for the Cleansing Bell and head forward toward the next platform.

  • After defeating enemies within the domain, a cube key unlocks on the opposite side of the platform.
  • Use this key to extend the next bridge, then head up the bridge and turn left to reach another platform.

Finishing this cutscene completes the The Realm Within subquest. Notably, meeting Madame Ping isn’t just about ticking a box; it opens up rich narratives and quests that enhance your gameplay. Her involvement in the storyline offers valuable rewards and lore, making your journey in Genshin Impact more engaging.
